"To move with grace and beauty is lovely. But, to respect, understand, and love the Hawaiian culture is to find balance"
To provide a positive, enriching atmosphere through exercise that is not only fun to learn, but also promotes health and well-being, respect, team-work, perseverance, physical, mental, and social development, increased self-esteem, and exposure to new and diverse cultures.
For centuries, cultures across the globe have used, and still use, dance as a major form of communication. Through hand and foot movements and facial expressions, a person or a group of people can tell a story of the past, present, or future. A woman could share her feelings about finding love. A child could recount his or her journey of travels with friends. Or, a man can tell about his great hunting adventure, and his skillful capture.
Hula and Tahitian are both such types of dance. They bring people of many different backgrounds together, and build strong bonds that last. Each dance is unique. And, each teacher has his or her own methods. But, ultimately, they all desire to find balance through respect and understanding of any culture.
